Hi, my name is Yusuf, founder of the Pious Wealth website and experience. This is where I tell you a little bit about myself.
I have the great blessing of being a Muslim. I’m originally from Palestine, but I have sadly never been there — I have lived in the UAE since I was a little boy.
Alhamdulillah, I’m a high-achieving electrical engineering graduate.
In 2018, I was admitted into the American University in Dubai on a 100% scholarship after winning first place in Al Awal High Achievers Challenge — a competition hosted by the university in which top achievers from several high schools in the UAE competed in rigorous exams across different fields such as engineering, business, and public speaking.
In 2022, I graduated with honors after achieving the highest possible GPA of 4.0.
Post-graduation Frustration
It’s been two years since I graduated with the highest level of distinction, but I’m yet to find a full-time job that matches my career aspirations.
Typically, electrical engineering graduates go for a career in construction and MEP, but I really don’t like it. I find it boring, unfulfilling, and it takes decades of experience before you can hope of securing a job that pays well.
This is not to say that I don’t like electrical engineering as a whole — I do, otherwise I wouldn’t have gone for this major. In particular, I’m passionate about renewable energy and sustainability.
I’ve applied to tens of jobs that seemed interesting, done many series of job interviews, but nothing has really worked out. I’ve heard all sorts of justifications as to why I didn’t land the job:
We didn’t get the approval from the headquarters in Berlin, so the job opening had to be closed.
We decided to go for someone who has more international experience.
We decided to go for someone who is a better cultural fit for our company.
And of course, the typical:
Our jobs are very competitive and we are unable to provide individual feedback.
As you can imagine, it was a very frustrating and heart-breaking time for me, but I didn’t just sit back and rue my luck.
My Business Endeavours
Alhamdulillah, I’m a very intelligent man, but I also have the gift of teaching. I have been tutoring university students since 2019, and I still tutor till this day — though not as often.
Private tutoring is good money, but its intermittent nature means that I can’t rely on it as my primary source of income. Not only that, but I also fully believe that I am capable of achieving much more In Shaa Allah.
Toward that end, I started looking for ways to make money online. I began thinking of my job application upsets as a sign that the 9-5 career path is just not for me.
It was time to escape the matrix as they say.
For a long time, I have appreciated the huge money potential of the online world, but the first real step I took was in September 2023.
I joined Wealthy Affiliate, a platform where I learned how to build a website and make money with affiliate marketing. I created a website about chess, one of my biggest hobbies, and worked really hard on it for months.
Financially, it didn’t bear many fruits, but I don’t consider it anywhere near a failure, because I learned so many new skills in these 8 months.
I learned how to build a website, how to design it, how to write articles, how to build a brand and establish a social media presence to market my website, how to build an email list, and so much more.
The reason I ditched my chess website is because I came to the realization that it was too risky to make money from anything chess-related. In Islam, there are varying scholarly opinions on whether chess is permissible. Some scholars say it is halal as long as there are no money prizes involved and it doesn’t distract you from the obligatory prayers, but others say that it’s haram regardless.
It’s one thing playing chess, but a whole other thing building an entire business whose foundation rests on chess. It’s a very shaky foundation. As Muslims, we must always ask ourselves where we’re making our money from. We will be questioned about this on the Day of Judgment.
For this reason, I decided to let go of it all for the sake of Allah. I’m full of hope that Allah will reward me for that — in this life and the next.
The Story of Pious Wealth
After I stopped working on my chess website, I felt a huge void in my life. The transitional period was very challenging.
Nevertheless, I continued looking for ways to make money online, until I eventually stumbled upon what I believe is by far the best online wealth generation method — especially for beginners and those with no experience.
People call it different names, but the name I resonate with the most is digital intermediation.
The concept behind digital intermediation is simple. You find a client who is looking for a service. You find a provider of this service who is looking for clients. You connect the two and earn a commission.
There are two great things about this business model:
- You’re not the one actually doing the service.
- Payments are recurring. As long as the service provider continues to deliver the service to the client, you will keep making money In Shaa Allah.
But there is no such thing in this life as free lunch. I worked really hard in hopes of closing my first deal, and in doing so, I had to keep dodging obstacles and jumping over haram pitfalls to stay true to my faith.
This is exactly where Pious Wealth comes into the scene.
I created Pious Wealth to help my brothers in Islam make money online while avoiding the pitfalls that conflict with our faith.
I’m a man with many shortcomings, light years away from being perfect, but I’m always trying to be a good Muslim and avoid all that is haram, and I will keep improving In Shaa Allah.
On this website, I will share my make-money-online journey with you: my successes, my failures, what worked, what didn’t. God willing, I will take every opportunity to remind and alert you of possible haram pitfalls that you may face.
I hope this will be a space where my stories inspire you, where my mistakes save you time and trouble, and where my victories give you a blueprint for your own success.
Rely on Allah and do your best,
Yusuf
